Student Research
Amazing Undergraduate Research
Making pharmaceutical drugs more affordable is one of the research projects undergraduates are involved with in the Chemistry department. Students work in the lab with faculty members, hoping to find new carbenes that will improve the efficiency and durability of catalysts needed to produce drugs. Students are also making history with their research efforts. One mathematics undergraduate is trying to prove that sufficient evidence exists for elements of the Koch Snowflake, a complex geometrical curve that originated in 1904. Another student, a biological science major, is studying how brassica tournefortii, a weedy mustard species, reacts in desert habitats, which could help the plant in the future.

Why wait til you're a gradaute student, a sceince professional, or a professor to make a difference through research? At UCR, opportunities abound for budding scientists to get their hands dirty in the lab — and make a difference through real research, working side by side with faculty mentors. Undergraduate research opportunities — on campus and off, in all fields of science, for the academic year or just the summer — are posted online.
